The Year is Ending
I realized today that I haven’t created enough art this year to create my yearly picture book. For the past few years, I have created a little 6×6″ photo book of all my artworks from the year come December of that year. I’ve only created about 6 or so artworks this year and those books have 20 pages that have to be filled. Meaning, I can’t make a book for this year due to lack of work. That’s a little depressing. Okay, more than a little depressing. I guess I could get to work right now and create lots of things but there’s no way I could, or would want to, create enough art in this last month to fill one of those books. I guess next year I’ll just have to make an “Artworks of 2023-2024” art book.
My picture books from previous years can be seen at left. I get these printed at Shutterfly… but not this year.
The other day I downloaded the latest update to Poser 13, the latest Nvidia Studio Drivers, plus updates to Photoshop and Lightroom. Yesterday, I actually began to get to work on some new art projects. A new human base model, La Femme 2, was released a month or so ago. I created a plethora of characters for the original La Femme. So, I decided to start work on a brand-new character for LF2. I’m thinking I will name her “Eleanor” as I have been in a Beatles mood ever since their last song, Now and Then, was released. I plan to work on some new artworks before/after I finish creating this character.
Here’s a preview of my work in progress, Eleanor for La Femme 2. I’m still working on her as I type this, tweaking both the morphs and the base textures. Once I get those to my liking, I’ll get to work on texture options and material presets. I hope to have her ready for release in early January 2024.
While I was talking to my therapist on the phone earlier today, I remembered about Renderosity’s annual holiday art contest or as it is known for this year, The 2023 Holiday Contest at Renderosity. This year’s theme is… there’s no theme. It’s completely open. I guess that’s good as it won’t limit my creativity. Or, is it bad that I have no clear direction to go? Whatever. I plan to look through my Notebook of Ideas here in a few minutes and see if I have any Xmas holiday art ideas sketched out in it. If not, I’ll have to come up with something fresh. The deadline is January 02, 2024 so I do have a little bit of extra time this year.
I still need to take some time and get my Sims 4 mods checked and updated for Simularity. A new patch was released last Tuesday and a new expansion, For Rent, released today. I’ll have to figure out how to balance art and Sims. I’ve never been able to do it before despite countless tries. Maybe this time’s the charm? I certainly hope so! Hmm, maybe I can work on a new artwork on my workstation/desktop while my laptop downloads the new patch and expansion for Sims 4? Then work on modding while the artwork renders? Hey, this could actually work!
I am also trying to prepare myself for next week. Abbey’s spay surgery is scheduled for next week. I am not looking forward to it. I’m going to be a nervous wreck until my baby is back in my arms! Speaking of my baby, she’ll be one year old the day after Xmas. I can’t believe it! She’s still tiny, weighing only 4 lbs., but she’s not quite as tiny as she was when I got her at four months old back in April. I love my little Abbey Rose!
That’s all for now as I have A LOT of work to get done! If I don’t post again before the end of the year, Happy Holidays to all of you out there!
