A Random Update
A lot has been going on lately. About two weeks ago, Dad took a turn for the worse. He fell twice and then started throwing up what looked like dark green bile. We called the ambulance and they took him to the local hospital. After being in the ER for nearly 10 hours, they sent him to a larger hospital a few towns over. He had pneumonia, his calcium levels were off the charts high, and his kidneys looked like they were about to shut down. He stayed in that hospital for about a week as they did their best to help him. Thankfully, their best was just what was needed. The pneumonia is gone, his calcium levels are back to normal, and kidneys are not only functioning, but they seem to be getting even better than they were before. Right now, Dad is in a rehab clinic for a while to get back to his former self. Dad’s dementia is as bad as ever though so he’s very confused about where he is at and why. He’ll be coming home as soon as the physical therapist says he’s ready. I don’t know when that will be exactly.
This month is going to be weird for me. The 21st will be one whole year since Aayla and I said our last goodbye. I’m tearing up just typing that. One the bright side, on the 26th, it will be one year since we got Abbey. It’s hard to believe that an entire year has passed. I still miss Aayla terribly, but Abbey has become my new constant companion. I love how she cuddles up to my face at night to sleep (and also hogs my pillow). I need to put some more recent photos up in my gallery on this site. All the photos I have on here currently are from when she was a puppy. Her hair is longer now and her black mask faded. Oh, and she went from 3lbs to 4 1/2lbs.
My last 3D character set submission to Renderosity ended up being a fantastic seller! I will also be getting some ad revenue and donation money from my Simularity stuff. I first decided to buy more RAM chips for my PC (decided I needed those more than a new GPU and will hold off on that idea) so soon I will have 64Gb of RAM. They were on sale for under $90. I thought about upgrading my processor, but I would need to also buy a new motherboard, RAM chips, and PSU so that’s out of the question for now. The extra RAM chips I bought will help my workflow enough. Next, I decided to buy a new computer desk. I love my current desk but it’s just not sturdy enough for my huge monitor, I’m running out of room due to the desk’s small size, and I broke the keyboard tray a while ago which I then had to remove and that made the desk a little more unstable. I’ve nearly knocked my expensive monitor off I don’t know how many times. So yes, a sturdier and larger desk is in order. I finally, after many days of searching and comparing, decided on which desk to buy. It should be here next week!!
I started my annual spring-cleaning the other night when I cleaned out and organized my two drawer carts and chest of drawers in my office. Yesterday, I vacuumed my office floor, moved and cleaned my tall bookcase, moved and cleaned my media stand, and I forgot what all else. My room already looks so different and more open from just moving around a couple pieces of furniture. I also need to prepare for the new desk and dismantle my current desk just enough so that I can get it out of here. I’m hoping I’ll be able to sell it for a little cash. That would be better than throwing it out or letting it collect dust in the garage. I’ll wait to dismantle my desk until the new desk gets here next week. Today, I hung up some framed prints in my office that I had on hand. I’ve been meaning to hang those up for I don’t know how long. My main goal in hanging up the prints was to cover up all the holes in my walls from where I removed my Funko Pop shelves. Once I was finished, I realized I needed several more framed prints to cover up these walls like I want/need to. I’m going to wait until the next sale at Shutterfly before I order any though. I’ve got about a dozen picked out to print. I like putting my own art on the walls as a way to inspire myself to create more.
As for tomorrow, I have a new minimalist bedframe that I need to put together and switch out with my current antique wooden bedframe over in my bedroom. I also need to get rid of some boxes, vacuum of course, and who knows what else. After my bedroom is done, I’ll clean out my bathroom. I always save it for last since it’s the smallest of my rooms. Once my corner of the house is cleaned up and such, I’m going to work on vacuuming the stairs and cleaning out the living room. After that, we shall see what needs doing. You know, I’ve done this spring-cleaning thing almost every year but in years past all I had to worry about was pacing myself to prevent exhaustion. Now I’ve got arthritis, so I have to deal with various pains too. The worst pain is in my knees although my lower back and shoulder blades don’t feel so great either. Aging sucks!
Here you can see my finished work. I didn’t really pre-plan how to hang the prints. I just hung them up as needed to cover up the worst of the holes and flaws. I rather like how “chaotic” it looks. I still have more room on this wall and the sliver of green wall next to it. More prints are required!
I finally got around to hanging up that “All You Need is Love… And a Chihuahua” sign that I bought last year. I decided that the best place for it would be above where Aayla rests in peace. So, that’s where it is now.
I had an empty space in the middle of my bookshelf (all of my books fit on the other four shelves) so I decided to put some of my now greatly reduced Funko Pop collection there. The Pops had been temporarily sitting on my bedroom dresser until I found a good place for them. Now I have roughly half of them on the bookshelf. I haven’t figured out where to put the rest of the Pops. There isn’t any open space on the two lower shelves and that would put them within Abbey’s reach… I don’t know if she would go after them or not. I think it best not to find out the hard way.
That’s all I have for now. I need to get some sleep so I can get up and start work on cleaning the rest of my rooms tomorrow. Take care out there!
